Random Acts of Kindness

So I was sitting in the Community Alliance meeting at the Chamber of Commerce  yesterday, talking with people about getting more folks from Utica to come up and help us with our summer workforce needs. A really great meeting.

While we were talking, a group of 4th graders came in with their teacher from the Lake Pleasant School. They were all bundled up but faces lit up with smiles. They came in and gave out valentines cards to people in the meeting. Julie Swift told us that they are teaching the children about random acts of kindness, and this was one of the things they wanted to do.

This was the card I got...It just made me so happy...

Do you know what day it is?

Do you know what today is? It's my one year anniversary. One year ago today (2/8/16) I move up to camp. I took a large leap of faith, left a comfortable camp job with a great crew and excellent enrollment , and moved up north in search of fame and fortune...well not fame and fortune, but actually to follow my dream of creating a summer camp.

And here I am- raising money and trying to get new campers for this summer. It hasn't always been easy- but nothing worth while never is. I've spent over 31 years working toward this dream, and we have a great start.
So, as an official camp director, with all the powers invested in the position, I am officially declaring today "CAMP DAY!!!"

What is camp day you ask? It's a day to celebrate camp! I invite all of you to post your favorite camp memory on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Sacandaga/) . Let's have fun, share some wonderful (and camp appropriate) stories and remember what camp is suppose to be- a fun and wonderful, crazy , mixed up time! We could all use some fun, with all that is happening in our world right now. So SHARE!!!

And I will give moose hats to the best stories! I will kick it off by posting a story on the facebook page. If your not a member- just ask for an invite and we can get you onto our page! They don't need to be stories of Camp Sacandaga..they can be of any camp!

I'm looking forward to all those great stories!!!!
